Despite making the playoffs, the Eagles continue to be one of the more active teams in re-shaping their roster. Trading linebacker
Chris Gocong and cornerback
Sheldon Brown to Cleveland increased the number of veterans they have moved from their 2009 playoff team to nine. Philadelphia has traded or released five on defense, including pass-rusher
Chris Clemons, linebacker
Will Witherspoon and defensive end
Darren Howard. On offense, they have moved receivers
Kevin Curtis and
Reggie Brown, halfback
Brian Westbrook and guard
Shawn Andrews. The Eagles are getting younger. Quarterback
Donovan McNabb, who is being shopped, is 33. Defensive end
Juqua Parker, 31, is their only defensive player over 30. The only other Eagles in their 30s are kicker
David Akers (35) and punter
Sav Rocca (36). With 10 draft choices, including an extra No. 4 and a No. 5 from the Gocong-Brown trade, the Eagles are in the best spot to make a trade for Seahawks guard
Rob Sims. The Eagles have done well with former Seahawks. They signed fullback
Leonard Weaver last year and he went to the Pro Bowl. They picked up defensive end
Darryl Tapp in a trade this offseason. The Bears and Lions are the other teams interested in acquiring Sims.
Saving money in Dallas: The Cowboys' release of left tackle
Flozell Adams and safety
Ken Hamlin reduced one of the NFL's highest payrolls. Cutting Adams and Hamlin saved the Cowboys $13 million, reducing their 2010 salary commitments to $112 million, 10th highest in the league.
