The Chargers' reversal in deciding to offer
Darren Sproles a one-year $7.3 million contract to stay shouldn't be a surprise. They really had no choice. Sproles could have gone to the Chiefs, Eagles, Redskins or several other teams in need of an explosive back on passing downs and a return specialist. By keeping Sproles, the Chargers can concentrate on finding one running back in the draft and drafting much-needed players for the defense.
What next for Kampman, Vanden Bosch? It will be interesting to see if
Aaron Kampman of the Packers or
Kyle Vanden Bosch of the Titans becomes the second defensive end to get big money after
Julius Peppers gets a deal early Friday. With the market hot for Peppers, Kampman and Vanden Bosch will end up being the next choice among defensive ends. Even though he played as a linebacker in a 3-4 last year, Kampman could have the edge over Vanden Bosch. He'll sign with a 4-3 team.
Robinson to Atlanta? The poor times by some of the cornerbacks in the Indy scouting combine could impact the
Atlanta Falcons in making a run for Texans cornerback
Dunta Robinson. Robinson is the top cornerback in free agency, and the Falcons desperately need a left corner. If the Falcons came out of the combine with down grades on the corners, Robinson could be the choice.
