The Colts are very concerned about defensive end Dwight Freeney. According to a source, he suffered an ankle injury in the AFC title game that puts his chances of playing in the Super Bowl in jeopardy. His ankle is very swollen and it's going to take two weeks of intense treatment just to put him in a position to play a portion of the game. Freeney has been a fast healer and has hired some of the best consultants to assist the team's trainers in getting him ready for the game. At the moment, he is very questionable. Most players with this type of ankle injury might not be able to play in two weeks. Freeney is going to try.Tough task: New Raiders offensive coordinator Hue Jackson has a tough assignment in trying to turn around quarterback JaMarcus Russell. Jackson will call the plays for head coach Tom Cable, who needed a break from play calling because he was doing that job along with coaching the offensive line. Russell is expected to be told he needs to work harder this year to be the starting quarterback.Retirement repercussions: The expected retirement announcement of Kurt Warner on Friday is a big blow to the Cardinals and puts them in a tough position. Matt Leinart hasn't shown he's ready to be a consistent, winning quarterback, but it's unlikely the Cardinals will go outside the organization or try to make a trade. Losing Warner should drop the Cardinals closer to the 49ers and Seahawks in the NFC West even though the Cardinals are the most talented team in the division. Warner's retirement gives the other teams in the division hope.
