Three-star linebacker Abner Logan Jr. (Cambridge, Mass./Dexter School) is close to finalizing his official visits, according to Dexter School coach Casey Day.North Carolina State gave Logan more to think about when it offered him a scholarship earlier this month. NC State is recruiting Logan to play running back, while most other schools have him penciled in as an outside linebacker.Logan transferred to the Dexter School from the New Hampton (N.H.) School following his sophomore season. Last fall was the first season he was used at running back."He has huge potential at both positions," Day said. "A lot of coaches see him as a weakside linebacker, where he doesn't have to occupy blockers, he can run and use his athleticism. He didn't know how to play running back last year, but he's improved dramatically."Earlier this month, Logan said he would take official visits to Connecticut, Maryland and Northwestern. Day said NC State and Syracuse will likely be the two other schools Logan visits. His other offers are from Boston College, Florida International, Massachusetts and Towson.Maryland, Northwestern and Syracuse are all recruiting Logan as a linebacker. Connecticut has expressed interest in him as both a linebacker and a running back.Day said Logan is hoping to take some of his visits during the season, but that scheduling those visits will be difficult because the Dexter School plays its games on Saturdays."He'll probably try to take two during our season, and the others right after," Day said. "I know he wants to take all five, and I know he wants to go when football is up and running [at the schools he visits]."Logan rated is the No. 28-ranked inside linebacker in the Class of 2012, and the No. 4 recruit in Massachusetts."I think right after he takes his visits he'll make his final decision," Day said.
