• Casey Cochran sets a state record

Quarterback Casey Cochran (Monroe, Conn./Masuk) became Connecticut's leader in career passing yardage when he completed 15-of-18 passes for 327 yards in a 49-14 victory over Oxford on Saturday.Cochran, a senior who has committed to the University of Connecticut, has thrown for 8,027 yards during his high school career. St. Joseph's Joe Della Vecchia set the previous record (7,710 yards) last season.Cochran is scheduled to graduate in December and enroll at Connecticut in January.Boyle injured in victoryJunior quarterback Tim Boyle (Middletown, Conn./Xavier) suffered a shoulder injury in the first half of Xavier's 36-7 triumph over Notre Dame-West Haven on Friday night.Although x rays taken after the game showed no broken bones, Boyle said he still doesn't know the extent of the injury."I need to take an MRI, so I don't know yet," Boyle said. "Hopefully nothing too bad."Boyle has offers from Boston College and Syracuse.
