Here's how you know Xavier High School in Middletown, Conn., is deep at the quarterback position: junior Tim Boyle has scholarship offers from Boston College and Syracuse, and he isn't even the team's full-time starter.Boyle splits time with senior Pat D'Amato, who has committed to play at Stony Brook. Boyle and D'Amato also shared the starting job last year, when Xavier went 13-0 and won Connecticut's Class LL championship."Me and him are like brothers," Boyle said. "He's a great quarterback. He's a speed demon -- something I wish I had."Boyle is more of a pro-style quarterback. He landed his scholarship offers after attending camps at BC and Syracuse during the summer. He also attended camps at Connecticut, Rutgers and Temple."Since Sept. 1 I've been getting a bunch of mail and email," Boyle said. "UConn, Temple and Rutgers are all recruiting me, and I'd say heavily. They're all inviting me to their home games."Xavier coach Sean Marinan said Boyle's best attribute is his arm strength."That's what they like about him," Marinan said. "We're trying to get him to develop more touch, but he's 6-4 [205 pounds] and he's what everybody's looking for in a quarterback."He's pretty cool under pressure. He'll take a hit so he can deliver the ball. He's not gonna panic back there."Boyle said Florida, Duke, Miami Stanford and Wisconsin are among the schools that have been sending him mail. Linebacker Graham Stewart, who was a senior at Xavier last season, is currently playing for Florida.Boyle said he knew he was a Division I prospect when he got a look at the competition during the summer camps he attended."I put balls where they need to be and I make Division I throws, I think," Boyle said. "My options are completely open, but BC and Syracuse are great schools. I could see myself at either of those two places."
