• Canaan Severin set to visit Boston College

Three-star wide receiver Canaan Severin (Marlborough, Mass./Worcester Academy) will take his first official visit Saturday, when Northwestern plays at Boston College.BC is one of five schools Severin is considering. Connecticut, Iowa, Penn State and Virginia are the others. He said he'd like to take at least two official visits, and could take as many as four."I've only set up one official visit so far," he said. "I'd like to take my officials and talk to the coaches, but time is a factor. Schools have to fill up their recruiting board."Severin said he will attend the Penn State-Alabama game on Sept. 10 with two other Massachusetts residents who have committed to Penn State: four-star linebacker Camren Williams (Easton, Mass./Catholic Memorial) and three-star defensive back Armani Reeves (Easton, Mass./Catholic Memorial)."They really want me to join them [at Penn State]," Severin said. "I'll make my decision when it feels right."Severin and three-star linebacker Abner Logan (Newton, Mass./Dexter School) are the top uncommitted recruits from Massachusetts in the Class of 2012. Connecticut, Maryland and Northwestern are among the schools Logan is considering.Peoples personRutgers fans can get an early look at three-star running back Desmon Peoples (Warminster, Pa./Archbishop Wood) when his Archbishop Wood team faces Pittsburgh Central Catholic on Sunday (2 p.m.) in a game that will be televised on ESPN2.Peoples committed to Rutgers last spring. He rushed for 1,349 yards and 23 touchdowns during his junior season. Pittsburgh and UCLA were among the other schools that had offered Peoples a scholarship.Reid collects early offersFreshman John Reid, a 5-foot-10, 170-pound running back/defensive back, hasn't played a down of football for St. Joe's Prep in Philadelphia, but already has offers from Boston College and Rutgers.Reid reportedly ran a 4.56 40-yard dash at Boston College's camp.
