Wide receiver David Coggins (Waterbury, Conn./Sacred Heart) won't have any junior film to show college coaches.Coggins, who will likely be one of the most sought-after recruits from the Northeast in the Class of 2013, suffered a broken right foot during a scrimmage Friday. He had surgery Saturday and will miss the entire 2011 season."Yeah, he's done for the year," Sacred Heart coach Chris Ortiz said. "He was playing defense [defensive back] and a pile kind of collapsed on him."Coggins received an offer from Boston College in July, after he ran the 40-yard dash in 4.56 seconds at BC's summer camp. Ortiz said Connecticut, Syracuse and Temple are the other schools that have shown the most interest. He also attended a Connecticut camp during the summer."Those are the ones that have come to Sacred Heart," Ortiz said. "He's received letters with an invitation to attend camp from places like Alabama, Notre Dame and Penn State."He's real quick. He runs great routes and he has good hands, but he's most impressive after the catch. There are not too many people who are going to tackle him by themselves."Coggins caught 78 passes for 1,427 yards and 13 touchdowns last season. He's made 139 receptions for 2,256 yards and 17 TDs in his two years of varsity football."I told him that he already has an offer and schools know what you can do, but you'll have to attend some camps [next year] because people will want to see if you're all the way back," Ortiz said. "He goes 100 miles an hour all the time. Not too many athletes have the talent and determination that he does."
