Dan Connaughton (Lincoln, Mass./Buckingham, Browne & Nichols) always figured he'd play defensive tackle or defensive end in college, but it appears his future may be on the offensive line.Temple, the only FBS school that has extended an offer to Connaughton, recruited him to play center. Connecticut and Duke, the other FBS schools that have shown significant interest, have also told Connaughton they may want him to play center."[UConn coach Paul] Pasqualoni told me from a physical standpoint [Connaughton is 6-foot-3, 275 pounds] he sees me as a center," Connaughton said. "Duke wanted me to go to their camp, but I couldn't fit it into my schedule. They told me they want to see senior film."UConn told me to send clips after my first two games. They want to see both sides of the ball. I think one of the problems is I didn't put much offense on my highlight tape. I thought I would be playing defense in college."Connaughton said he'll shift from defensive tackle to defensive end this season. He also plays offensive guard.Connaughton attended camps at Boston College, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Syracuse and Temple this summer. Most of his offers have come from FCS schools. Connaughton said he's also been accepted at two Ivy League schools, Brown and Penn. Many of the FCS programs are recruiting Connaughton to play defensive end."Right now it's between Temple and UPenn, and I'm waiting on Duke and UConn," Connaughton said. "I haven't seen Duke yet, but I know it's one of the best schools in the country. I took an unofficial to UConn and it was beautiful. Hopefully I'll get an offer from them."
