Casey Cochran (Monroe, Conn./Masuk) said he got what he wanted: a verbal offer from the University of Connecticut.UConn extended that offer last Thursday, and Cochran, a three-star quarterback, committed shortly after he took an official visit to the school Sunday."I was very excited when I got the offer," Cochran said. "After I watched practice [Sunday] I sat down and discussed it with my parents. It felt right. I felt comfortable with the coaching staff."Cochran, the top-rated recruit from Connecticut in the Class of 2012, said he was also considering Yale and Princeton. His first offer came from Boston College, but BC pulled back that offer after Kevin Rogers replaced Gary Tranquill as the program's offensive coordinator."I had a great feeling about UConn," Cochran said. "It wasn't too hard of a decision."Cochran led Masuk to a 13-0 record and the Class L state championship last season, when he was named Connecticut's Gatorade Player of the Year. He completed 200 of 295 pass attempts for 3,345 yards and 40 touchdowns."It felt right," Cochran said. "It's always been a dream for me to play in my home state for UConn. It wasn't too hard of a decision."Cochran's father, Jack, has been a varsity coach at three Connecticut high schools and sent several players to UConn coach Paul Pasqualoni when Pasqualoni was Syracuse's head coach.Cochran, who is on pace to graduate in January, said he was also considering Yale and Princeton. He led New London High School to Connecticut's Class SS championship during his freshman season, and then transferred to Masuk.He said he expects to enroll at UConn in January."I'm excited because the program is headed in the right direction," Cochran said. "It's an honor to play football for my home-state school."
