Greg Webb (Sicklerville, N.J./Timber Creek) isn't ready to tackle the recruiting process. The 6-foot-2, 305-pound defensive tackle, has seven offers and projects to be one of the top recruits on the defensive side of the ball from New Jersey in the Class of 2013, but said all he's focusing on at the moment is his junior season."I just want to play football for now," Webb said.Webb transferred from Paul VI to Timber Creek last April. He joined a Timber Creek program that has been fertile recruiting ground in recent years. Two Timber Creek players signed with Division I programs in February: linebacker Quinton Alston (Iowa) and wide receiver Damiere Byrd (South Carolina). In addition, Timber Creek linebacker
Quanzell Lambert is one of the state's top recruits in the Class of 2012. "He [Webb] will be a two-way player for us this year," Timber Creek coach Rob Hinson said. "I think he'll be one of the top five defensive tackles in the state. He could be the best next year."Webb also wrestled in the heavyweight weight class for Paul IV last winter. He was 32-3 and finished eighth in the state."They have pretty good athletic athletic programs there [Paul VI], but I think in terms of the whole school I'll be more comfortable at Timber Creek," Webb said. Since he transferred, Webb has received offers from Central Florida, Connecticut, Iowa, Michigan State, Penn State, Rutgers and Syracuse. He has visited Connecticut and Rutgers."I loved the facilities and the coaching staff [at Connecticut]," Webb said. "I liked that everything is in one area. "Even though Rutgers is close, I look at them the same as everybody else. I loved it there, but I've lived in Georgia, Oklahoma and New York, so it doesn't matter how far away a school is"I'll start looking at things later this year. Right now I'm just looking forward to the season."
