His second scholarship offer was the one athlete Jake Kiley (Plymouth, N.H./New Hampton School) was waiting for. Kiley received an offer from Penn State on Monday night, and committed to the Nittany Lions on Tuesday afternoon. He said he would have committed even sooner, but was unable to reach Penn State assistant coach Bill Kenney by phone."Penn State was my No. 1 school," Kiley said. "It would have been crazy not to take the offer."I went to the Penn State-Michigan State game last year and that was when I really got a taste of what Penn State is about. What was important to me in the process was picking a school that was solid academically and athletically. Penn State has a great mixture of both."Kiley's other offer came from New Hampshire, an FBS program about a 90-minute drive from his home. He attended a Penn State camp in late June. Connecticut, Duke and Virginia were among the other schools that showed serious interest in Kiley, who will be a senior in the fall. "[Penn State] has been real good throughout the whole recruiting process," New Hampton coach Ed Kiley -- Jake's father -- said. "They were really up front with him."He's worked hard and it paid off for him."Kiley plays quarterback and defensive back for New Hampton, but will likely line up at either receiver or defensive back in college."They just told me athlete," Jake said. "I'll even kick if I have to."
