Shortly after the final day of the Boston College camp he attended, offensive lineman Alexander Morrill (Lebanon. N.H./Lebanon) received the bad news from BC offensive line coach Sean Devine.Devine didn't tell Morrill that he wasn't good enough to play at the FBS level. The news was worse than that."He said, 'You have the ability to play Division I football, you're just not tall enough to play here,'" Morrill recalled. "I've heard that from a lot of coaches. They tell me they like what they see, but the big thing is my height [Morrill is 6-foot-2, 300 pounds]. They don't think I'm tall enough to play Division I."That's one thing I've noticed. If you have height and a little potential they feel they can turn you into an amazing athlete. You can't work on height, but you can work on everything else."Morrill is still hoping to play Division I football, however, even if it's at the FCS level. He has also attended camps at Pittsburgh and Connecticut this summer, and said he's drawn FCS interest from Delaware and New Hampshire."The plan is to play Division I football," Morrill said. "That's what I'd love to do. When I went to the camps I did what I could. For my size I've been told I have pretty quick feet."Morrill, who is also on the varsity basketball and track and field teams at Lebanon, said he has been told he's best suited to play offensive guard in college. "[Connecticut assistant coach] Mike Foley told me I'm on their second list of recruits," Morrill said. "It's the same thing there. I have the ability it's just the height." Morrill is hoping New Hampshire will make an offer when he attends camp there next week."Right now I'm waiting on UNH and UConn," he said. "Hopefully something at UConn will work out. UNH is looking heavily into me."I just want to play football somewhere."
