• Track standout Henry commits to BC

Boston College picked up its 10th recruit from the class of 2012 when defensive back Donovan Henry (West Roxbury, Mass./Catholic Memorial) made a verbal commitment Tuesday night.Henry, who also plays running back, made his decision after a visit to BC last week. He also had an offer from Massachusetts.Henry is a standout in track and field and passed up a track scholarship from Northeastern. He was undefeated in the 200-meter dash last spring, but suffered an injury before the New England championships. He completed the 200 in 21.94 seconds -- his best time during the 2011 outdoor season -- during a meet at BC High.Henry is the third Catholic Memorial player in his class who has committed to a Division I school, joining four-star linebacker Camren Williams (Penn State) and three-star quarterback A.J. Doyle (NC State).In addition, Catholic Memorial defensive back Armani Reeves has 15 FBS scholarship offers. Reeves also will be a senior this fall. Notre Dame and Penn State are among the schools Reeves is considering.Henry is the second in-state recruit BC has landed this summer. Two-star linebacker Tim Joy (Chelmsford) committed last month. Joy is expected to play outside linebacker in college.Giacone will decide Friday
Tight end Michael Giacone (Westfield, N.J./St. Peter's Prep) confirmed Tuesday that he will make his college choice Friday. He said he will make the announcement from his home around noon.Giacone has 10 FBS offers, but trimmed his list of potential schools to four last week. He's still considering Boston College, Connecticut, Maryland and Rutgers.Giacone also has offers from Central Florida, Florida State, Indiana, Temple, Tulane and Wake Forest.
