Tight end Mike Giacone (Westfield, N.J./St. Peter's Prep) isn't ready to make his college commitment, but he's close.Giacone narrowed his list to four schools on Thursday -- Boston College, Connecticut, Maryland and Rutgers -- and said he'll announce his decision on July 15."July 15 is my sister Kelly's birthday," he explained. "She's always been my No. 1 fan, so I decided to do it then in a way to honor her."Those four schools have always stood out in my mind, but I didn't make anything official until [Thursday]. I've been to each of those four schools at least twice. I didn't want to go to a losing program."Giacone also had offers Central Florida, Florida State, Indiana, Temple, Tulane and Wake Forest, but said he wanted to remain in the Northeast. Here's what Giacone had so say about each of the four schools he's still considering:Boston College: "I love the academic reputation BC has, and I love the atmosphere up there."Connecticut: "The coaches there have a great reputation. I think the school has top-10 potential. The facilities are great and I like the campus a lot."Maryland: "I like the campus and the coaching staff there has a great desire to succeed."Rutgers: "I love the coaching staff. It's a good group of guys. They're going to do something special there. Doing the in-state thing would be cool."Giacone said he'll fit in well with the offense at each school."The offensive systems at each of my top four schools are very tight end friendly," he said. "If I had to pick today I think I'd have a good idea where I wanted to go, but I'm gonna let everything settle it, talk to my coach and my parents and then decide which school would be the best."
