Wide receiver Canaan Severin (Marlborough, Mass./Worcester Academy) recently narrowed his list of potential schools to Boston College, Connecticut, Iowa, Penn State and Virginia.Severin said he will like trim the list more this summer, but doesn't expect to make a commitment until he takes his official visits. He said no school has an edge over the others at this moment. Here's what Severin had to say about each school:Boston College: "It's very local. People from my hometown can see me play. My dad can see me play. Boston is a sports town. I know the staff there real well."Connecticut: "I really like the wide receivers coach, Matt Cersosimo. I really like Coach [Paul] Pasqualoni and his success as a coach at Syracuse, where he coached players like Marvin Harrison."Penn State: "Penn State has probably one of the top football traditions in the history of college football. Coach [Joe] Paterno may be getting old, but he's still sharp. He's all education first. I like that, and my dad liked that. I went there for the Michigan game and they had more than 100,000 people there. I've never seen anything like that."Virginia: "I really like Coach [Mike] London and the message he's sending. He's the kind of person you want to be around."Iowa: "Two of their coaches went to my high school. [Iowa head coach Kirk Ferentz and offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach Ken O'Keefe both coached at Worcester Academy.] They're real good people. The campus was real nice. It's a college town, kind of like Penn State."
