Athlete Devante McFarlane (Dix Hills, N.Y./Half Hollow Hills West) said he plans to make his college commitment sometime in July.He has offers from Syracuse, Vanderbilt, Kent State and Buffalo, but expects to have more schools from which to choose."UConn is showing a lot of interest but said they were gonna wait until after their final camp to make any offers," McFarlane said. "I feel like I'm gonna get an offer from them."[Boston College] hasn't offered me, but they're showing heavy interest. Their coaches came to my high school twice."McFarlane, who is being recruited as both a running back and a defensive back, said he plans to attend a Boston College camp later this month. He has attended camps at Connecticut and Syracuse and said Maryland and Penn State also have him on their radar."Most of the schools just put me down as an athlete," he said. "This year I'll be playing quarterback, but that's not the position I'll play in college."I like UConn a lot, but I'm liking Syracuse the most right now. I guess you could say Syracuse is at the top of my list, but I still have a couple places I want to visit though."Northeast Players to watchThe ESPNU 150 for the Class of 2012 includes five players from the Northeast (New England states, New York and New Jersey):No. 39: Athlete Devin Fuller (Old Tappan, N.J./Northern Valley Regional)No. 40: Cornerback Yuri Wright (Ramsey, N.J./Don Bosco)No. 67: Defensive end Darius Hamilton (Ramsey, N.J./Don Bosco)No. 80: Quarterback Chad Kelly (Buffalo, N.Y./St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute)No. 97: Offensive tackle Jarron Jones (Rochester, N.Y./Aquinas Institute)Jones has given a verbal commitment to Penn State.
