Apparently, New Hampshire defensive coordinator John Lyons would rather coach Jake Kiley (Plymouth, N.H./New Hampton School) than coach against him.Kiley made life tough for Lyons when Lyons was the head coach at Kimball Union Academy, a prep school in Meriden, N.H., that played Kiley's New Hampton team in each of the past three seasons.Lyons, who used to be the head coach at Dartmouth, got another look at Kiley during a one-day camp at Connecticut last weekend, and made Kiley his first scholarship offer on Sunday."It's a big weight off my shoulders," Kiley said. "[Lyons] was coaching the defensive backs and I was in his group all day."As far as [FCS] teams go, UNH is a great program. They're in the playoffs every year and I've only heard good things about the school."Kiley, who recently completed his junior year, plays quarterback and defensive back for New Hampton, but is being recruited to play either cornerback or wide receiver in college.New Hampshire would be fortunate to land Kiley, since he is expected to receive offers from FBS schools as well. Kiley is scheduled to attend one-day camps at Duke, Penn State, Boston College, Virginia and Maryland this month."From what the coaches are telling me, he has a good shot (to receive a scholarship offer) from the other places as well," said Jake's father Ed, who is New Hampton's head coach. "It has to be the right fit, but that's the case with anybody."Kiley said Connecticut assistant coach Mike Foley told him the Huskies may offer him a scholarship as well."Connecticut has told me I'm still in the mix, but they're not going to make any offers until all of their camps are over," Kiley said. "The rest of the camps I'm going to are all schools I've been in contact with and have shown a lot of interest."
