Wide receiver
Canaan Severin (Marlborough, Mass./Worcester Academy) had his list of verbal offers climb to 11 when Purdue extended an offer in late May, but if Severin likes some schools more than others he's not ready to reveal his hand."I think they're all equal right now," he said. "I'll probably make a [short] list no later than mid-summer. I want to visit as many schools as I can before I make a list."Severin has taken unofficial visits to four of the schools that have offered. Most recently he made stops at Virginia (Tuesday) and NC State (Wednesday). He visited Boston College and Connecticut earlier this year."The visits to Virginia and NC State both went really well," Severin said. "I spent a day at both places. Virginia was an awesome visit. [Virginia head coach Mike London] is a high-energy guy. I really liked him a lot. He seems like a guy who can make you a better player and a better person too."I got to meet with [NC State head coach Tom O'Brien] early in my visit there. He said their facilities are top five in the country."Severin also has offers from Iowa, Penn State, Rutgers, Syracuse, Villanova and Western Michigan.Severin did say that he was putting BC and Connecticut "in a different category" because of each school's location."I live 45 minutes from BC and about 50 minutes from UConn," he said. "If I went to either of those schools my dad could come watch me play."Severin said he will visit Penn State this weekend, and will visit Iowa June 14-15.Maryland, Michigan, Missouri, Stanford and Tennessee are among the other schools recruiting him, Severin said."I kind of like the idea of committing before my senior season, but I also want to use my official visits to check things out," he said. "It's a big decision. I don't want to rush it."
