Perhaps no one was more surprised when Illinois made a scholarship offer to tight end Ryan Morris (Barnegat, N.J./Barnegat) than Morris himself.Morris received the Illinois offer Tuesday, while assistant coach Mike Gillhamer was visiting his school."They told my coach, and my coach told me," Morris said. "My coach sent my film out to all the schools, but up until [Tuesday] I really hadn't talked to them. I'm definitely interested in them. It's a good program -- a Big Ten program. It's very intriguing."Morris has nine offers. The others are from Purdue, Indiana, Syracuse, Cincinnati, Louisville, Tulane, Duke and Central Florida. Barnegat coach Rob Davis said he expects Morris to end up with at least 20 offers.Michigan State representatives were also at Morris' school Tuesday, but did not make an offer. North Carolina and South Carolina have also made recent visits."My coach said a lot more schools will be coming in during the recruiting period," Morris said. "At this point I'm still trying to figure things out. I'm looking into all my options."Morris made unofficial visits to Purdue, Indiana, Louisville and Cincinnati last month. He's scheduled to visit Syracuse this weekend. Morris attended the Syracuse camp last year."They've been showing a lot of interest in me," Morris said when asked about Syracuse. "Me and my family are going to check things out and then figure out who to visit."Right now I'm not forcing the issue. I'll make my decision whenever it feels right."Brodie feeling Cavalier?Virginia made a scholarship offer to offensive lineman Ryan Brodie (Long Branch, N.J./Long Branch) Tuesday. Brodie also has offers from Boston College, Buffalo, Cincinnati, Connecticut, Purdue, Rutgers, South Carolina, Temple and Tulane.
