Stacey Bedell (Mastic Beach, N.Y./William Floyd) has completed the 40-yard dash in 4.42 seconds, but he'll need even more speed to get to all the camps on his spring/summer schedule.Bedell, a running back/defensive back, has attracted a fair amount of interest, but not a lot of scholarship offers. Stony Brook is his only verbal offer."I wish I had more offers, but you can't be too greedy," Bedell said. "A lot of schools are telling me they want to see me at camp. I'm planning on going to camps at Rutgers, UConn, Maryland, Syracuse, maybe Bowling Green, Stony Brook, Pittsburgh, Boston College and a couple others."I may attend the Under Armour in North Carolia too. Hopefully after the summer circuit offers will start coming in."Bedell ran the 40 in 4.56 seconds (electronically timed) at the Under Armour combine in Charlotte, N.C. last year. His time ranked ninth among participants that day.Penn State, Temple, Buffalo and Duke are some of the other schools that are pursuing Bedell. Most schools are recruiting him to play running back, but he said Buffalo talked about using him on the defensive side of the ball.Bedell rushed for 1,658 yards and eight touchdowns on 208 carries last season, when he also caught 12 passes for 177 yards and two touchdowns. He also recorded 105 tackles and scored two defensive touchdowns.Bedell said Bowling Green, Buffalo, Connecticut and Syracuse are the schools showing the most interest."I just started talking to Bowling Green," he said. "They said they're gonna be recruiting me hard. They told me I'd look good in their uniform."Bedell has attended two junior days at Connecticut and also attended Connecticut's spring game. He also attended the Rutgers camp last year.Massachusetts and three FCS schools -- Pennsylvania, Delaware and Holy Cross -- visited Bedell's high school last week."I have my sights set on [FBS}, but if that doesn't work I'll play [FCS] football," he said.
