Offensive tackle Sean Karl (Manorville, N.Y./Eastport-South Manor Consolidated) has verbal scholarship offers from Buffalo, Syracuse and Stony Brook, and reason to believe that list will grow. The 6-foot-6, 295-pound junior, said Connecticut, Notre Dame, Penn State, Rutgers and Virginia are the other schools that are showing significant interest."Most schools in the Northeast are interested in him," Eastport-South Manor Consolidated coach Brian Sacks said. "UConn said they'd like him to come to their camp and there would be a possible offer. Virginia said, 'He looks great on film. We just want to meet him before we give him an offer.'""It seems like Connecticut and Virginia might be the next to offer," Karl added. "Connecticut wants me at their camp so I can show them my footwork, and Virginia said they might offer when they come visit."Karl, who also plays defensive tackle, attended a junior day at Notre Dame, and the spring game at Rutgers and Penn State. He said he'll likely attend camps at Connecticut and Rutgers this spring."Pretty much all the schools we've talked to like him on the offensive side," Sacks said. "Obviously he's big, but he's a lean 300. He's nasty on the field. He blocks to the whistle and through the whistle."Karl, who also plays varsity basketball, said he would prefer to play college football in the Northeast."Anybody in that area has a chance at him," Sacks said. "I think his parents would like him to stay in the Northeast as well."
