Jason Sylva (Plymouth, Mass./Tabor Academy) was feeling nothing but frustration. Boston College -- a school at the top of his wish list -- seemed to be out of the recruiting picture and he was receiving only mild interest from other schools. He even considered transferring out of Tabor Academy to another prep school.Although Sylva is still waiting for his first scholarship offer, it appears that things have improved since then. He's resumed talks with Boston College, Utah has shown serious interest and he's decided to stay at Tabor Academy for his senior season."Utah is beginning to show a lot of interest and I'm going out there for a visit on June 18," said Sylva. "Their linebackers coach wants to work me out during a one-day and I got the impression they're interested in offering. They told me coming out for a visit would be worth it."It's a nice area and it might be something different. It might be something I'm interested in. That would be a huge offer."Sylva said he thought academics would prevent him from getting accepted at Boston College, but added that BC remains a possibility."I've been playing phone tag with [BC coach] Sean Devine, but they said they're going to try to make it work if I can improve in the classroom," said Sylva. "I'm really going to put in the effort."Sylva, who plans to attend camps at Connecticut, Temple and Maryland this spring, said he looked at three other prep schools, but decided it was in his best interest to remain at Tabor."I really considered leaving," he said. "I thought I would be some place different next fall, but the coaches here helped me out with a few things. I'm commuting to school instead of living on campus, so I get to go home every night."Things are a lot better now. I'm hoping the next step is that first offer."
