Najee Glass (Jersey City, N.J./St. Peter's Prep) said he has plenty to prove during the 2011 season. Among the things on his to-do list: Establish himself as an FBS football recruit.Glass is known more for his ability as a track and field athlete. He set a national record in the 500-meter dash (1 minute, 2.22 seconds) at the New Balance Games in January, although the record was later rescinded when it was ruled that Glass ran inside his lane.Nevertheless, his speed has caught the attention of several major FCS programs. Glass said he receives mail from about 10 schools, but added that Rutgers is the only school that's shown serious interest to this point."Rutgers is the only school that's recruiting me heavy," Glass said. "It's just letters from the others. I have an offer from UCLA [for track], but as of right now I'm trying to get a football scholarship. I'm looking at schools that will let me do both."Glass said Boston College and Connecticut are among the schools that send him mail frequently. He's planning to attend the Nike football camp at Rutgers this weekend.Glass, who also returns kicks, missed much of the 2010 season with a knee injury, but said 4.30 seconds is his best time in the 40-yard dash."Most likely I'll get most of my offers for track, but I'm hoping to establish myself on the football field," Glass said. "It's my year to prove a lot."
