Wide receiver
Ruhann Peele (Linden, N.J./Linden) said he thought his only scholarship offer might end up being his best offer, and that's why he decided to commit to Rutgers earlier this week.Peele drove to Rutgers on Tuesday to tell Rutgers coach Greg Schiano that he was ready to end the recruiting process. Rutgers is the only school that had extended an offer and that happened after attending a Rutgers camp last year. "I could have had more offers except for my grades," said Peele. "I was getting letters from everyone. Everyday I'd get a pile of letters from all over, but I think I would have chose [Rutgers] over anybody."I'm working on my grades, getting them better. Rutgers broke it down for me and said I'm not in too much trouble. As long as I can get Bs from now on I'll be all right."The 6-foot-1, 178 pounder has been a starter at the varsity level since his freshman season. He caught 27 passes for 464 yards last season. He is the first player in the Class of 2012 to commit to Rutgers. "They told me I'm one of the most competitive players they've seen, that I'm a hard-worker and I'm coachable," Peele said. "I like Rutgers because it's close to home. My family can come see me play. I like the coaching staff and I wanted to stay in New Jersey."
