Scott McCummings (Natick, Mass./Natick) certainly looked like a Division I quarterback Saturday night at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, Mass.McCummings, who committed to Connecticut last August and signed a letter of intent in February, tossed a 17-yard touchdown pass with 28 seconds left in the first half to help the South beat the North 13-6 in the 32nd Annual Shriners Football Classic.McCummings (6-foot-2, 218 pounds) completed 4 of 9 passes for 46 yards, but was at his best running the ball. He gained 48 yards on five carries in the game, which featured some of the best players from Eastern Massachusetts in the Class of 2010. McCummings set up the TD pass when he ran for 26 yards on a third-and-nine play. He also converted two fourth-down opportunities.McCummings guided Natick to last year's Division 2 Super Bowl, where the Redmen lost to Reading 26-0. McCummings finished his senior season with 15 TD passes and 10 rushing touchdowns.Syracuse also offered McCummings a scholarship, but reportedly pulled the offer after two other quarterbacks committed. Harvard, Rutgers and Boston College were among the other schools that showed interest in McCummings.
