The Big Ten wasn’t perfect. But Week 3 hardly could have gone much better for the league as it aced the highest-profile tests and claimed victories that could prove plenty useful in the College Football Playoff race as non-conference play winds down. As per tradition, it’s time to honor the best and brightest of another entertaining Saturday around the Big Ten.

Ohio State WR Noah Brown: Now the nation knows what teammates and coaches around the Woody Hayes Athletic Center have been raving about since training camp last year. The broken leg Brown suffered before Ohio State’s 2015 opener might have hampered its offense even more than imagined based on his breakout performance on the road Saturday against Oklahoma, where each of his first four catches went for touchdowns -- including one that will be immortalized on highlight reels forever.

Nebraska QB Tommy Armstrong Jr.: The Huskers are rounding into form as a contender, and the improved, steadier play at quarterback is a major reason why Nebraska is looking like a more dangerous threat in the West Division. The veteran passer accounted for four touchdowns in the victory over No. 22 Oregon, but even more important for Nebraska, Armstrong didn’t throw an interception.

Michigan LB/PR Jabrill Peppers: The dynamic athlete was everywhere for the Wolverines, including the end zone. In perhaps the finest outing of his career, Peppers made nine tackles, had 3.5 tackles for loss, a sack and an electrifying 54-yard punt return for a touchdown that put his physical skills prominently on display.

Maryland QB Tyrrell Pigrome: The freshman quarterback only played a single snap, but that was all he needed to make a huge impact for the Terrapins in a gutty double-overtime victory on the road. After Perry Hills was knocked out of the lineup with the game in the balance on Maryland’s second overtime drive, Pigrome came in cold and promptly scampered 24 yards to clinch the win and keep his team’s record perfect heading into conference play.
