One of the fastest rising players in the West is two-way standout
Nate Iese (Sacramento, Calif./Sheldon). Iese has seen his offer list rise throughout the season and he's beginning to narrow his list and set up some visits. He plays defensive end and wide receiver and is getting recruited as a rush end and tight end. He has 25 catches for 297 yards and three touchdowns to go with 27 tackles and five sacks on defense. At 6-foot-5 and a lean 250 pounds, Iese is just scratching the surface of his immense ability and his upside is off the charts."I had nine catches for 109 yards and two touchdowns in our first game," Iese said. "Oregon State saw that game and offered me as a tight end. UCLA offered me as an athlete and said they would determine the position later and everyone else is recruiting me mostly for defense."Iese has already visited one school and has another trip set up."I visited Washington State and really liked it there," Iese said. "I was surprised at how much tradition they have up there and the Cougar fans really take their football serious. The coaches were great I got along great with the players too."My dad spent a little bit of time talking with Coach [Paul] Wulff and Coach [Jody] Sears and I got to spend time with my teammate from high school that is there now, Mansel Simmons. It was exciting to see the football game against UNLV, the Cougs blew them out, so I really had a good time."Iese said he has a visit lined up with Nevada and he's close on setting a few more official and unofficial visits as well."I'm going to Nevada (Oct. 7) and I want to visit UCLA and Nebraska too," Iese said. "Right now, everyone wants to set up a visit and I'm trying to figure out which schools to trip to. I think I'm going to take some unofficial visits with my dad so we can see more schools."I wish I could see everyone but I know that's tough to do. I'm looking at Oregon State, Arizona, Arizona State, and San Jose State, who was my first offer. Fresno State is another school I would like to visit. I've been talking with coach [Will] Plemmons for a while now and he's a great coach. Washington calls a lot too and I've been talking with Coach [Jeff] Mills but I'm just not sure if I'll be able to make it out there."
