Linebacker Brett Bafaro (Hillsboro, Ore./Liberty), who visited Oregon over the weekend, will check out another Northwest program in mid-October.The Ducks have led for Bafaro for some time and it was a mild surprise when he didn't commit to Oregon on his official visit. There was some thought that after a few days of thinking things over, the linebacker could pull the trigger."Yeh, I know what everyone was thinking," Bafaro said. "I think a lot of people expected me to commit but I just really want to go through the process more. I want to get a good feel for all the schools recruiting me and I don't want to commit anywhere and then have regrets later on. "Oregon is a great school and they made it pretty clear how much they want me. They never pushed for a commitment, they mostly joked around about it and I definitely like Oregon a lot. I'm going to visit Washington (Oct. 14) the weekend they play Colorado. I also plan to visit Boise State and Oregon State and hopefully one other school before I make my decision."Aztecs land MillerSan Diego State beat out some major heavyweight programs in picking up a commitment from local offensive line prospect Kwayde Miller (Ramona, Calif.).The Aztecs were the first to offer Miller following his sophomore season and soon several other programs jumped on board including Oregon, Wisconsin, Purdue, Colorado State, Oregon State, UNLV and Washington State. "I just felt the timing was right," Miller said. "I didn't take any official visits but took unofficial visits to all the schools I was looking at and really felt San Diego State was where I belonged. I'm comfortable there, I like the direction the program is going in and academically, for what I want to major in, which is criminal justice, SDSU made the most sense."I was planning to go through the process and take my time but I wanted to get this over with. Recruiting was kind of becoming stressful for me and I want to focus on my senior year and our football season. I'm really excited to be an Aztec right now, no one recruited me harder or longer and this just feels right."Watson staying patientMalik Watson (Pittsburg, Calif.) is one of the state's top uncommitted quarterbacks. He has a handful of programs looking at him and plans to send his early season highlights out next week.Watson had an impressive summer performing very well at various 7 on 7 tournaments and also looked strong at the Stanford Nike Camp and Elite 11 regional workout. He's a pure pocket passer who can also make plays with his legs and has a nice upside to him."Northern Arizona is still my only offer right now," Watson said. "Nevada and San Jose State are also showing a lot of interest. I talked to Coach [Mike] Riley at Oregon State and he told me they have a quarterback committed but if anything happens, they're interested."Cal is my favorite school but I know they have Zach Kline already committed. I camped with them in the summer and did pretty well and they told me they like me a lot. After Zach, they said I was the next guy on the list. I know USC hasn't taken a quarterback so I plan to send them my film. I'm also talking with Idaho and left several messages with UCLA because I know they haven't taken a quarterback but I never heard back."
