Even though they likely won't go head-to-head much, if at all, since both players play predominately on the offensive line, it should be a lot of fun watching San Clemente (Calif.) standout Kyle Murphy and Carlsbad (Calif.) La Costa Canyon tackle Erik Magnuson competing against each other.Murphy is No. 26 in the ESPNU 150 and the No. 3 rated player in the state. Magnuson, a four-star prospect, was an early Michigan commitment and one of the most physical and nasty offensive lineman in the country."I'm excited, I can't wait," Magnuson said. "My and Kyle are good friends and are cool with each other so I'm sure there will be some good natured trash talking out on the field. They have a good team so I'm going to go out there and try my best to put on a good show as well."Brown to check out the Wildcats
Arizona will play host to one of the top running backs in the West region this weekend when Chris Brown (Fresno, Calif./San Joaquin Memorial) takes his second official visit of the year to Tucson. Brown has already visited Oregon State and could also check out Utah, Washington and Colorado later in the year. The nation's No. 22 ranked running back has had the Cats among his top three schools since the summer and a good visit could put Arizona at the top of his list."I really like Arizona a lot," Brown said. "The coaches are really cool, I talk to them every week and I have a real good relationship with them. I can definitely see myself playing there and hopefully this visit goes well for me."Will UCLA offer Thomas?
UCLA will host sleeper wideout Michael Thomas (Elk Grove, Calif./Cosumnes Oaks) this weekend. The Bruins coaches were out scouting last weekend and attended a Cosumnes Oaks game to check out cornerback Marcus Rios. They came away impressed with Thomas and after evaluating his film, called the receiver up and offered him an official visit for their game with Texas. The Bruins haven't offered yet, but the feeling is it could happen and if so, don't be surprised if Thomas jumps on it."I really like UCLA and Los Angeles in general," Thomas said. "They have been recruiting me pretty hard since the summer so I'm excited to get out there and get a closer look and hopefully I'll come away with an offer."Who's the top LB in California?
