Running back
KeiVarae Russell (Everett, Wash./Mariner) is one of the top backs in the Northwest and showed why last Friday when he made his season debut.Russell missed his season opener two weeks ago after crashing on a moped and suffering a concussion. He showed no signs of injury last Friday rushing for 284 yards and four touchdowns in the teams 28-24 win over Mount Vernon (Wash.)."I was ready to go," Russell said. "I was never more excited to play than before that game. I hated to miss the opener so I had two weeks of energy just burning up inside me and I released it all on the field and it felt great."On the recruiting front, Russell's phone has been ringing off the hook and he's hoping to set a few more official visits."I still have just the one visit to Notre Dame set up for (Oct. 21)," Russell said. "It's a night game against USC and should be an incredible environment. So far this month, I've gotten calls from USC, UCLA, Cal, Washington, Notre Dame, Utah and Arizona State."I would like to set visits with Cal and USC during the season and then I'll probably trip to UW after our season is over. For the last trip, I'm just going to keep it open and see where things are at when my season is over. I like all the schools that have offered me and I'm sure my last visit will come from one of them."
