Defensive back Marcus Rios and receiver Michael Thomas (Elk Grove, Calif./Cosumnes Oaks) will take an official visit to UCLA this weekend.Rios, a Boise State commit, and Thomas are cousins and very close. The two also traveled together this past summer to several different schools."Marcus is very solid to Boise State and he's working on graduating early so he can enroll at Boise in time for spring practice," Richard Rios, Marcus' father said. "UCLA is still recruiting Marcus very heavily and has really picked up their interest in Michael as well."At first we weren't sure if they were recruiting Michael just to try and get Marcus but the interest in Michael is serious. We sent them film of Michael's first three games and they were very impressed. Michael has come a long way since his freshman year and is just so much more physical now. He always could run, he ran a 10.7 100-meter last year but now he's the complete package. It sounds like UCLA could be close to offering and that would be great for him."UCLA isn't the only school showing interest in Thomas."Arizona State sounds like they could be close to offering as well," Rios said. "We sent his film to about seven or eight schools and they're all very interested. Surprisingly, the one school that we haven't heard from is Nevada, and that's the one school that offered him in the summer."My daughter, Marcus' twin sister Tina, is coming down this weekend too to talk with the cross country team. Fresno State offered her a full ride and we'll see if UCLA shows some interest. Unfortunately, Boise State doesn't have any room at receiver for Michael and they're not recruiting Tina either. We were hoping the three could stay together but it doesn't look like it's going to work out. For Marcus, Boise State is just such a perfect fit and he's very excited to get out there in January."Rios said Arizona State will also get an official visit from Marcus and Arizona could as well. Despite the official visits, the Broncos are in a very good spot for the talented corner and it would be a major shock if the athlete went anywhere else.Afalava has three on topLinebacker Jared Afalava (South Jordan, Utah./Bingham) is not just one of the state's top prospects but one of the top players in the entire West region. The athlete said three schools currently top his list.Afalava is a high priority recruit for several programs and is hearing from a host of schools from all over the region and beyond."I've gotten calls from Oregon, Utah, Nebraska, Oregon State and UCLA," Afalava said. "All those schools are recruiting me the hardest right now and I would like to take visits to all of them if I can but that will be after the season. I don't want to do any visits during the season, I just want to focus on our team right and hopefully winning a state title."Right now, my top three are Oregon, Utah and Nebraska. I really like all three of those programs a lot. Utah has been recruiting me forever and is close to home. Oregon just has a great football program and I like Nebraska's tradition and they're recruiting me really hard right now and making me feel like a big priority to them."
