As previously mentioned, Carson (Calif.) receiver Darreus Rogers put on a show last Friday night against a very talented Long Beach Poly (Calif.) defense. He committed early to USC but is still hearing from schools from all over the country and said he's keeping all his options open right now.Rogers was simply spectacular against the Jackrabbits over the weekend finishing the game with 12 catches for 211 yards and two touchdowns and saw nothing but double and sometimes even triple coverage with a linebacker shading over and safety playing over the top."My goal tonight was to prove you can't man me up one on one," Rogers said after the game. "I heard that Poly has never double teamed a receiver before and tonight, they had three guys on me so that's a huge compliment to me. When I see a double team, it just makes me push harder and I love the challenge."Rogers committed last spring to USC, his childhood favorite, and said the Trojans are still at the top of the list."I love their tradition and they get their receivers to the [NFL]," Rogers said. "It's close to home, the coaches are very cool and I love the weather out here. How can you beat playing close to home in front of your family in great weather."Rogers said he will take his visits and has four schools in mind at the moment."I'm looking to trip to Arizona State, Washington, UCLA and Hawaii," Rogers said. "Mike Johnson (UCLA OC) was at the game tonight and just offered me a scholarship. He was talking with my coach and said I had an offer so that's big. I like a lot of the same things about UCLA that I like with USC, it's close to home, great weather and I think I could play right away."ASU and Washington are on the rise and the coaches are recruiting me really hard. With Hawaii, I think it would be a cool school to visit and see what it's like out there. I'm also hearing from Alabama, Miami, basically everyone has been calling since Sept. 1 and I'm enjoying the recruiting process right now and excited to finish it out."Price is next in lineThere are several talented junior safeties in the Class of 2013 from California and Long Beach Poly (Calif.) standout David Price could be the best in the group. Price has one early offer and said three schools currently stand out to him.No school out west has sent more defensive backs to the college ranks than the Jackrabbits. In the last 10 years, Poly has sent at least one DB to a Division I school and in eight of those years, the Jackrabbits have sent three or four defensive backs to FBS schools.Price, whose father played at Oregon State, was an all-state underclass selection as a sophomore and is already a well-known commodity among college coaches."I'm hearing from the entire Pac-12 plus a lot of SEC schools like Georgia and Alabama," Price said. "SMU has offered me and I have a top three right now of UCLA, USC and Oregon."I have a cousin at UCLA, Sheldon Price, and I don't want to go too far from home so I like them and USC a lot. With Oregon, it's just a great school and they're an exciting team to watch. My goal is to play as a true freshman so my dad and I are talking about getting my classes in order so I can graduate early and enroll in time for spring ball next year."As for the matchup with Rogers, Price said he loved the challenge of going up against an old friend."Darreus and I grew up playing Pop Warner and basketball together when we were little," Price said. "So I know him really well and we knew he would be a tough challenge. He killed us early but in the second half, we made some adjustments and slowed him down. I started to shadow him along with Randall (Goforth) and we put a lot more pressure on the quarterback too so that helped a lot as well."NotesPoly receiver and ASU commit Richard Smith said he plans to take all five official visits and listed the Sun Devils along with Cal, UCLA, Oregon State and Washington. Smith said all five schools have called this month and all have offered with the Bears being the most recent school to offer.Jackrabbit LB Matthew Rowe, also an ASU commit, will officially visit Nebraska and will also likely check out Washington. Both schools offered Rowe back in the summer. The Sun Devils are still in a good spot right now.Jackrabbit DE Alonzo Williams, a Texas A&M commitment, has heard from his first Pac-12 school. According to the Poly coaches, very few colleges even know the former Abbeville (La.) standout has transferred to Poly. USC has inquired and asked for film and once word spreads that the talented rush end, who has five sacks in two games, is playing in SoCal, expect every school out West to recruit him heavily. It's a down year for defensive ends in the West and especially in California and Williams has the talent to play for just about any program in the Pac-12. He's still committed to the Aggies, but the buzz Friday night on the field is he's open to other schools as well.Powe misses Michigan visit One of the expected official visitors at Michigan this past weekend was Lakewood (Calif.) receiver Darius Powe. Unfortunately he wasn't able to make it out to Ann Arbor but is hoping to re-schedule the trip for later in the season."I was so bummed, especially after watching the game on TV, Powe said. "We had a game Friday night and my flight to get out there was at 11:00. My dad didn't think I couldn't make it in time since our game would be ending around 9:30-10:00."The frustrating part was I've had a leg injury for a while now and at the last minute, I got scratched from the game and didn't even play. So I for sure could have left early to make the flight but it was too late notice. Michigan looked great though and I'm very excited to get out there for a visit later in the year for sure."
