ATH Kenneth Walker (Richmond, Calif./Kennedy) committed to his longtime leader and will play receiver for California. Walker nearly committed to Cal at The Opening last July but wanted to wait until he took the ACT first. The Bears have been a heavy leader for the last year and it always seemed like just a matter of time before Walker pulled the trigger."I really liked everything about Cal," Walker said. "I like the offense a lot, it's receiver friendly and you can make a lot of plays there. I like the coaches a lot and especially Coach [Jeff] Tedford. The depth chart is great and Cal really needs receivers right now."Academically, Cal is one of the top schools in the nation and I'm planning to graduate early and get in for spring ball next year. The school is close to home so my family can see me play any time and that was another bonus. I had some other schools I liked a lot, especially Boise State, UCLA and Washington, but Cal was the best overall fit and it's the school I always grew up wanting to play for."Walker is a tremendous all-around athlete who shined at running back and receiver last season. He accounted for 2,100 all-purpose yards and 18 touchdowns and is also one of the nation's top hurdlers, but plans to focus on just football at Cal."I really wanted to commit before the school year started so I'm thrilled with my decision right now," Walker said. "There were times when I wanted to play out the process but other times when recruiting was getting stressful and I was tired of getting hassled a little. I'm not sure about taking official visits to other schools right now, all I know is I'm going to Cal, that's my school and I'm very excited about it."
