UCLA got its 2013 class off to a good start by landing CB Dashon Hunt (Westlake Village, Calif./Westlake) on Thursday.Hunt earned all-CIF honors last season after totaling 60 tackles, seven interceptions, three of which he returned for touchdowns and one 97-yard fumble return for a score. Hunt added 305 yards rushing and seven touchdowns but his future is definitely on the defensive side of the ball."I've always liked UCLA," Hunt said. "They offered me about a month after our season ended, around January and I've been thinking about doing this ever since. UCLA is close to home and I'm used to the weather. They have great academics as well as a great athletic program and when I graduate from here, they'll be losing all their starting corners so it was a great fit for me."As for the timing of his decision, committing a year and a half before he can sign, Hunt listed several reasons for pulling the trigger so early."I knew UCLA was the right place for me and I didn't see a need to hold off on it," Hunt said. "This way, I can totally focus on my season this year and next and not have to even worry about recruiting at all. Ever since UCLA offered me, I've been doing a lot of research on them and I just feel like it's the perfect place for me."I just really like their team, the coaching staff and everything about the school. I'm so happy with my decision right now and so happy to be a Bruin. I'm excited to watch the team play this year and confident they'll be able to turn the corner and have a real good year."
