Offensive lineman Matthew Cochran (Atwater, Calif./Buhach Colony), one of the region's best true center prospects, is down to five schools although his childhood favorite could still sneak in there before this one is all over."Right now, my five schools are Stanford, Cal, Washington, Auburn and Utah," said Cochran. "Alabama is still recruiting me though. Their offensive line coach said he wants me to take an official visit out there and if that happens, I'll have to bump one of the schools in my top five."I have a lot of family in Alabama and that's the school I grew up on so it would be hard to pass up an offer from Alabama if they were to give me one. I really like all the schools in my top five though and feel comfortable with each of them. I had a great time at Stanford's camp, the Cal camp had some of the best competition I've ever seen, Utah and UW are recruiting me very hard and getting an offer from Auburn, the national champs, was a huge honor as well."Cochran saw his stock soar this past spring/summer going from somewhat of a sleeper to boasting offers from close to 20 programs from all over the country. He camped at several schools and took a handful of unofficial visits as well before recently cutting his list.
