Defensive back Ishmael Adams (Westlake Village, Calif./Oaks Christian) and wide receiver Chris Harper (Encino, Calif./Crespi) took an unofficial visit to Cal over the weekend and the Golden Bears are in a good position with both players at the moment.Adams and Harper play on the same summer 7-on-7 team and have become good friends as well. The two players, along with Cal commit Bryce Treggs (Bellflower, Calif./St. john Bosco), made the short road trip to Berkeley to check out the Bears."It was a great trip," Adams said. "We did a little of everything there. I got to watch the team practice, meet with the coaches, tour the campus and see the new facilities. Cal really stands out right now and I'm getting closer to a decision but I'm not going to announce anything until the Army All-American game in January."I really like the new facilities they're building there though. I also like the style of defense they play and I have a very good relationship with coach [Ashley] Ambrose, the DB coach. I'm going to try and get out to ASU for an unofficial visit before school starts and still want to do my official visits in the fall but Cal is on top right now."Harper is easily among the most underrated and under-recruited players in the west. He wowed onlookers catching passes at the recent Elite 11 QB Camp and could blow up this coming season."The campus at Cal is unbelievable," Harper said on Sunday. "We just checked out the new high-performance centers and they have everything there. From studying tables with computers to every position having their own meeting rooms, it was really impressive."Right now, it seems like a lot of schools are afraid to take a chance on me but if Cal offered, I would commit on the spot. I love the football program and the academics. I have a 3.5 GPA right now and academics are a big deal for me so Cal is a great fit."Following his visit to Cal, Harper did receive good news in the form of his first Pac-12 offer on Monday."Colorado just offered me," Harper said. "I'm definitely excited about this one and although I don't know a lot about Colorado, I'm eager to learn as much as I can. Colorado is a big-time school and I think this offer will also get the attention of some other schools that were kind of hesitant to offer me."Castro to check out UCLAWashington commit Jeremy Castro (Murrieta, Calif./Vista Murrieta) will be in Westwood on Monday to watch UCLA's first fall practice of the year.Castro is one of the top defensive end/outside linebackers in the region and originally committed to the Huskies over Oregon and UCLA. At the time of his commitment, he said he still wanted to take his official visits and will do an unofficial visit Monday."I'm ready to see some live football man," Castro said. "I love to see good hitting and I always enjoy going down to UCLA and I really like the way they practice. It seems like it has been forever since football was here so I'm excited to go down there and I'll also have a chance to meet with coach [Rick] Neuheisel and I always enjoy talking with him as well."Castro said he's still feeling good about his commitment to the Huskies and these visits shouldn't be taken as he's unhappy with his early decision."No. I'm still good with UW, I'm happy to be a Dawg," Castro said. "I do want to explore my options though. I committed very early in the process because I wanted to have my commitment out of the way and be free of distractions during our season."I still want to do my visits though, just to make sure I'm doing the right thing. I want to watch these teams play on the field this season and then I'll figure out what schools I'll visit officially."
