Two-way standout Jericho Richardson (Mission Hills, Calif./Alemany) recently picked up his first scholarship offer and it comes from a local favorite."UCLA offered me this week," Richardson said. "This is my first BCS offer and I always liked UCLA a lot so I was excited to have it. I camped with UCLA in the summer and worked out at both corner and safety but I think they like me at safety."I'm also hearing from Hawaii, Colorado, San Jose State, Washington, Washington State, Houston and Arizona State. Of that group, I think Hawaii, Colorado, Washington and Houston could all offer. They seem the most interested right now and are recruiting me very hard."Richardson said he's still debating whether he'll go through the recruiting process or make an early decision."I'm still not sure what I want to do," Richardson said. "I may take some visits but I'm also thinking of committing early to get it out of the way. I'm just going to play it by ear and see what happens over the next few weeks."Harper makes an impression
At the Elite 11 Quarterback Camp a few weeks ago, wideout Chris Harper (Encino, Calif./Crespi) was on hand to catch passes and made a big impression on everyone in attendance. While all eyes were on the quarterbacks during the Elite 11 workouts, no one could take their eyes off the receiver making acrobatic catch after catch. Even the college counselors soon began to ask, "Who is that guy?" followed quickly by, "Who has offered him?"To the surprise of everyone, Harper is one of the most under-recruited players in the region and has just two BCS offers at the moment."SMU and Georgia Tech have offered," Harper said. "I'm not really hearing much from any Pac-12 schools right now and that's where I want to go. I really like Cal, Oregon, Utah, Washington and Arizona. Those would be my top five schools but none of them is recruiting me at the moment."Harper is a highly skilled athlete with the ability to play for just about anyone. He runs well, has as good of hands as you'll see and is an advanced route runner. He's a tough player as well and according to Crespi head coach Jon Mack, compares favorably with former Celt and UCLA incoming freshman Devin Lucien."He's a much better prospect than Devin," Mack said. "He's more athletic, has better hands, is a better blocker and is fearless going over the middle. Devin really blew up as the season progressed last year and I expect the same thing to happen with Chris. He has the talent to play for anyone and I think he'll have a ton offers before the season is over."
