• Jeremy Castro commits to Washington

Oregon has always seemed like a solid leader for defensive lineman Jeremy Castro (Murrieta, Calif./ Vista Murrieta). In recent weeks however, Washington has made a strong push and was able to seal the deal with the talented athlete."I just committed this morning," Castro said. "I'm very excited to be a Dawg and glad to have this behind me. Coach [Demetrice] Martin was the one recruiting me and we have a great relationship. I like the direction the program is going and I really feel Washington has everything in place to win a championship."Oregon was leading early on for me but I started to feel more comfortable with Washington and felt like it was a better fit for me. I had some concerns about Oregon, it seems like they could be getting in trouble soon and honestly, they haven't been recruiting me very hard and haven't been returning my calls. The UW coaches talk to me all the time and made me feel like a priority and that meant a lot to me as well."Castro is a hybrid linebacker/defensive end and could play either spot in college. He had a big junior season totaling 118 tackles, 13 sacks and forced three fumbles. "I'll start out at defensive end and I'm very comfortable there," Castro said. "I'll play wherever they need me but I'll start out on the line. I took a visit to UW and loved it there. I love the city, the campus and the overall environment. Like I said, it's a great fit in every way and I'm pumped to be a Dawg."He had narrowed his choices to the Huskies, Ducks and UCLA and was also offered by Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado, LSU, Ole Miss, Oklahoma, Washington State and several others.
