UCLA picked up a commitment from one of the nation's top linebacker prospects as
Aaron Porter (La Habra, Calif./La Habra) announced for the Bruins.Porter had narrowed his choices to Arizona State, Boise State, Cal and UCLA, but said the Bruins just felt right to him."It was just the right place," Porter said. "I feel like I can go in there and make a difference. I visited the UCLA campus a handful of times and always felt very comfortable there. I like the coaching staff a lot, it's a great academic school, and I think I'll be able to get in there and hopefully play early."I'm graduating early so I wanted to make my decision in the summer before school got here. I visited all my other favorites but UCLA was just the place. It's close to home so my family can see me and that played a huge role as well. Plus, I like the direction the program is going. I feel like they're close to turning the corner and I want to be a part of that."Porter will be a three-year starter for one of the state's top programs next fall. He earned all-state underclass honors last season after totaling 156 tackles, 23 for loss and 11 sacks and was his league's defensive player of the year. He was recruited as an inside 'backer by the Bruins."I'll also play baseball at UCLA and that was another plus," Porter said. "I grew up a UCLA fan and have liked them for a while. Cal and Boise State were right there as well, it was close, but UCLA is where my heart was at."
