UCLA is picking up some momentum on the recruiting trail and landed talented cornerback Raymond Ford (Gardena, Calif./Serra) over the weekend. Ironically, Ford said late last week that he had no interest in making an early decision and would likely do a few official visits before pulling the trigger."Yeah, I guess I changed my mind," Ford joked. "I talked about it more with my dad and we both realized what a great opportunity this was for me. UCLA is a school that I didn't think would recruit me. I did well at the camp and when they offered, I was pretty excited. "I like coach [Rick] Neuheisel and the rest of the staff and I think it's a bonus to play close to home where my family can see me any time. UCLA is a great academic school and I love the campus. The program has been down but they have some good players and I think they’'re close to turning the corner."Ford earned all-city honors at Los Angeles Jordan his freshman and sophomore years, then transferred to state power Serra prior to his junior year. He made an immediate impact for the Cavs earning all-CIF honors. "He's a tremendous athlete," Serra coach Scott Altenberg said. "He's the best pure cover corner I've ever had. He'’s a tough player, very physical and has great speed. He's not as fast George [Farmer] was but he's faster than Robert [Woods] and Woody could fly so that should tell you something."
