UCLA landed its second commit of the day on Friday when offensive lineman
Mario Yakoo (Spring Valley, Calif./Spring Valley) announced for the Bruins. "They offered me today and I jumped on it," Yakoo said. "I camped at UCLA last week and I thought I did pretty well. My goal was to play well enough to get an offer and that's just what happened. I've liked UCLA for a while now so when they offered I didn't waste much time in accepting it."I pretty pumped right now because UCLA is such a good school. I really enjoyed working with the coaches at the camp and it felt like home to me. I didn't plan on committing so early but when I thought about it, UCLA was my top school and where I felt most comfortable so I didn't see a need to wait."Yakoo camped with Arizona earlier in the spring and picked up an offer from the Cats as well. "Air Force had also offered me, but Arizona and UCLA were my two BCS offers," Yakoo said. "UCLA is also a great school academically in a great area. I know the program has been down for a bit but I think they have what it takes to turn things around. "I worked out at both guard and tackle but mostly guard and that's where they want to play. I've played both positions for my high school team and I'm comfortable at either. It doesn't matter where they play me. I'm just excited about the opportunity to come in there and help the team win. If I redshirt fine, if they need me right away, that's fine too. I'm just happy to be a Bruin."
Madhu pledges to StanfordStanford is on fire right now and landed another talented athlete on Friday in defensive back
Drew Madhu (Tampa/Plant). "I went to their camp this week and things went well," Madhu said. "I could tell the coaches were excited about me and then just today they called my coach at Plant, Robert Weiner, and said they were offering me a scholarship."I talked things over with my coach and also my parents and we all decided I should commit. My parents went with me on the camp and they loved it too. Honestly, Stanford is an incredible school and there's nothing not to love about it. They have arguably the best education, coaches and facilities in the country and I'm thrilled to be a Cardinal."Madhu is one of the top safety prospects in the state and plays for one of the nation's premier programs. As a junior, he totaled 121 tackles, with one interception and earned DB MVP honors at the Nike Camp at Duke, the only safety to win the award all year.
