San Clemente (Calif.) quarterback
Travis Wilson has decided to end the recruiting process early by committing to Utah on Wednesday."There were a lot of reasons why I chose Utah," Wilson said. "I liked their depth chart and the opportunity to play early. Norm Chow is a great offensive mind and has put a lot of quarterbacks into the NFL and I like Utah's recent success at the quarterback position as well."Utah recruited me really hard and I felt like a priority to them. Coach [Brian] Johnson and coach [Aaron] Roderick came out to my school and watched a volleyball game and I could tell they really wanted me."Wilson had an early top two of Utah and Washington and when the Huskies landed in-state signal caller ESPNU 150 Watch List prospect
Jeff Lindquist (Mercer Island, Wash./Mercer Island) in late April, the Utes moved to the top of the board."I wanted to leave the state and that was another reason I picked Utah," Wilson said. "I visited there in the spring along with UW and Colorado and Utah really stood out to me. I loved the school, the coaches, the campus and the area in general and just felt like it was the best fit for me."I've lived in California my whole life so I wanted to experience something new. I think I'll be able to grow as a person and mature being away from home. Utah is in the Pac-12 so it's a great conference and I'll still be able to come home every year to play the California schools so I'm really excited about this decision."Arizona State, Colorado, Iowa State and UCLA had also offered Wilson. As a junior, the quarterback threw for 2,031 yards and 12 touchdowns and rushed for 457 yards and four more scores.
