Athens (Ala.) quarterback
Stephen Rivers is a national prospect who is hearing from schools all over the West Coast. He's very open at this point and will check out one of his favorites over spring break in a few weeks.Rivers is the younger brother of San Diego Charger all-pro quarterback Philip Rivers and mechanically, looks like a carbon copy of his older sibling. His ball placement and throwing motion, on which it looks like he's almost pushing the ball down the field, is very similar, Rivers throws a great deep ball and can make all the throws.Rivers has a couple of inches on his older brother. For a tall quarterback, moves around very well in the pocket and can make plays with his legs as well as his arm. On the recruiting front, Rivers has offers from NC State, Mississippi State, Arizona State, UCLA, Stanford and Tennessee. His father played for the Bulldogs while his older brother played for the Wolfpack. "I'm open to everyone right now," Rivers said. "My family has told me to take my time with my decision and make sure I'm doing the right thing so I'm going to take some visits and make sure I'm comfortable. "I'm going to visit UCLA over spring break in a couple of weeks here and I'm looking forward to that. My family knows coach [Norm] Chow really well since he coached Phillip at NC State and I'm excited to meet the staff and see what the school is all about."Rivers said he plans to check out a few other schools in the spring/summer but didn't have anything else locked in at the moment. As a junior, Rivers threw for 2,125 yards and 23 touchdowns.
