I caught up with 6-foot-7 swingman
Trahson Burrell (Albany, N.Y./St. Thomas More) last week at the AAU nationals. There were rumors flying around that Burrell may not return to St. Thomas More for his senior season, but he put those to rest last week saying he intends to return to STM to complete his high school career. On the recruiting front, Burrell is hearing from West Virginia, St. John's, Providence, Penn State, UMass, and Fordham but gave no timetable for a decision. After a busy summer, Burrell will take most of August off before returning to prep school in September. He'll get right back to work as college coaches are always out in full force in the fall when it comes to the New England prep schools and this year is expected to be no different.Burrell put himself on the high-major radar last year at St. Thomas More as he vastly improved his jump shot and proved his worth against a very high level of competition. He hopes to continue that in his senior year, but still needs to strengthen his upper body and continue to improve his consistency from behind the arc in order to open up his driving game. Burrell handles the ball very well and can make plays both in the open floor as well as the quarter court.
