A week after picking up his first Division I offer, Eli Lubick (Southborough, Mass./St, Mark's) put an end to his recruitment. The 2012 prospect made an early commitment to Colgate this past weekend. The commitment comes 10 days after visiting the Patriot League school for its Elite Camp and then taking a subsequent trip to conference rival American for its Elite Camp."It was just the whole weekend," said Lubick, when asked what led to his early decision. "All the coaches were very inviting and the campus was one of the best parts about the school. Everything about it was great."Eli, the youngest son of St. Mark's head coach Dave Lubick and younger brother of incoming Georgetown freshman Nate Lubick, spent the first half of his high school career as a two-sport athlete, starring on both the gridiron and the hardwood. It was only recently that he set his sights firmly on playing basketball at the next level and his game has quickly responded to the extra work. Typically known for the accuracy of his jumper, high basketball I.Q. and trademark family toughness, Lubick's guard skills were on full display this week at Hoop Mountain's Super Week II. He was getting to the rim in the open floor and attacking closeouts in the half-court set, showing a much more versatile attack than he had in the previous high school season. With another two years of development before he heads to the college level, Lubick has hopes of making an immediate contribution. Regardless of what happens, he says he knows Colgate is the right spot for him. "Even if I had the opportunity to play in a higher rated conference, Colgate would be the place I wanted to go," he said.
