Over the holiday weekend I caught up with All-Ohio Red U-17 coach Benji Burke to discuss how the recruiting process was going for his son, Trey Burke (Columbus, Ohio/ Northland), who cracked the ESPNU 100 at No. 99 after a terrific spring campaign. "Trey's No. 1 asset is his ability to score from the point guard position," said Burke. "He must continue to work on increasing his strength and improve his speed and quickness, although he is [already] a good athlete. Trey is also working with a personal trainer four days per week in order to improve his upper- and lower-body strength"The No. 22-ranked point guard in the 2011 class is definitely one of the top scorers at his position in the 2011 class. Burke is a rare prospect because point guards that can shoot the ball are not easy to find. He can knock down jumpers with range beyond the arc and if a defense does not give him its full attention, he can score 30-plus points when he is in full attack mode. As far as recruiting goes, Burke decommitted from Penn State in the last month and he has recently received interest from Cincinnati, Wake Forest, Georgia Tech, Minnesota, Cleveland State and Nebraska.
