• Wroten Jr. back to his old self

This past weekend's Spiece Run n' Slam All-Star Classic gave me an opportunity to evaluate many high-level prospects, but the player that impressed me the most was Seattle Rotary's 2011 combination guard Tony Wroten Jr. (Renton, Wash./Garfield). The No. 11 ranked player in the ESPNU Super 60 is still coming back from a major knee injury, but looked back to his old self. In fact, he even looked better than he did before the injury, at times."Tony has worked to get better everyday, twice a day with trainers and with me," says his father Tony Wroten Sr. Wroten Jr. had plenty of pep in his step this weekend. He looked as explosive as ever and played with great confidence and in full attack mode. We saw flashes of his game returning last month at Boo Williams, but now he is having dominating stretches in games again. Wroten Jr. played with off-the-charts passion, finished above the rim with authority on the break and attacked the basket with quick, powerful slashes. He also hit his open shots with range to the arc, when given time and space. Wroten Jr. showed his great versatility and played with a take-no-prisoners attitude. He is a great rebounder for a guard and what makes him special is his passing and court vision, which is arguably the best in the class. Wroten Jr. has the God-given talent to see plays develop before everyone else and put the ball on the money in most cases. Overall, Wroten Jr. has the size, strength and basketball IQ to excel at all three perimeter positions. As a scout and former coach, I have a ton of respect for how Wroten has worked himself back into form and having suffered a knee injury in college myself I know firsthand the hard work and commitment it takes to come back -- not to mention the mental strain. Seattle Rotary has an excellent team and as Wroten's conditioning continues to improve, expect his production too as well, which could be scary.
