• Fields, Reynolds off to good start

This past weekend at the King James Shooting Stars Classic we witnessed great performances in a variety of age groups, but there were a couple of possible 2011 sleepers from the state of Michigan that could be special. Point guard Anthony Fields (Detroit/Quality Education Academy) and power forward Jalen Reynolds (Livonia, Mich./Stevenson) will have college coaches taking notice if they continue to play at a high level on a consistent basis during the travel circuits.Fields has steadily improved from the fall and in my opinion played himself into the mid-major-plus, high-major-minus recruiting category. The D-One Sports floor general can get his own shot and run the team, but what makes him special is his ability to play with great pace on both ends of the floor and it is contagious. "I want to lead the team and score when I have too," said Fields. Reynolds is long, lean, runs the floor well and has pretty good skill. He can make mid-range jumpers and rebound at a high rate on both ends of the floor. He consistently rebounds with two hands and does a great job of not bringing the ball down before he outlets. What makes Reynolds so attractive is that he puts up numbers, despite limited minutes. While he needs to add strength, his length and consistent effort are things that college coaches love. Reynolds blocks, changes and challenges shots in and out of his area relentlessly and helps his team get multiple stops in a row. "Right now I am hearing from Syracuse, Akron, Michigan, Ohio and Detroit, but more schools are calling all the time," said Reynolds.
