Prior to last season, the Chicago White Sox's 21-year-old prospect Dayan Viciedo was considered perhaps the most coveted position prospect to ever come out of Cuba. Though young and relatively inexperienced, Viciedo was admired for a lightning-quick bat and tremendous power.
It would not be a stretch to call Viciedo the position-player equivalent of Aroldis Chapman, a player signed mostly on potential rather than current skill, even though ultimately Viciedo's contract (four years, $10 million) paled in comparison to Chapman's (six years, $30.25 million).
